Note: This post was written in 2025 and backdated to appear on the day I wrote and published the track.
I don’t have a ton to say about this one. I think it was probably started with me intending to do a Lo-Fi track, and it certainly fits the formula for one, but it seems a little too… sweet? Nice? Neither of those fit, because I’ve heard Lo-Fi that would warrant those terms. Maybe it’s just not nostalgic enough.
- Moxie's Meadow Ray Toler 3:15
Another of my pieces that are a bit more than a sketch but not quite a real thing. I never know what to do with these, and maybe nothing needs to be done. I enjoy it when it comes on, but don’t seem to seek it out. It’s more important for having done it than for what it is. I suppose these types of things exist for creators in many disciplines.
The title connects it to a piece I wrote when we lost our Schnauzer many years ago. “Moxie’s Lullaby” was a clumsy attempt at capturing my feelings on that day. I think this title came to me because there are a lot of similarities in the instrumentation, repetition, tempo, and overall sound. It was more peaceful and happy to me, though, and I pictured her playing in a flowered green meadow. Sentimentality at its finest.
Maybe this piece is nostalgic enough to qualify as Lo-Fi after all.
