The Biggest Challenge Yet?

This is my tenth year participating in this challenge. As I’ve said multiple times, Song-A-Day literally changed the path of my life, showing me what I value most, encouraging more risk-taking, getting rid of at least a smidgen of my imposter syndrome, and helping remove not only the preciousness writing and producing music, but much of the fear of sharing it.

When looking back on my 2024 work, I often call it “competent.” There were a couple of gems, a couple of duds, but mostly just more music. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, simply that it was more like going for a training run and not feeling overly pushed. There was no amazing inspiration, no massive hurdle, just the work. And that was satisfying in its own way.

So why would this year be a challenge after proving that I can do this over 200 times? Because there’s a 9 month old puppy in the house. If the last several months are any indication, doing Song-A-Day while I had a full-time 50+ hours-a-week executive career was easy mode compared to what lies ahead. Will I make it to the finish line? Let’s fire up the espresso machine and find out.
